SEO Without SEOing

What is one of the most significant challenges that a blogger faces time after time? That’s right… blog content creation.  Apart from any “other” regular activities like blog promotions, advertising, linking and SEOing. a blogger should always indulge in creating new quality content on a consistent manner.

Professional bloggers are excellent at creating new and high quality content. If you follow the leading big blogs, you will notice that the content in those blogs are completely top notch.  If we do some investigating to the reason behind this, we have to admit that the main reason is because these bloggers and the contributors therein are already around for a while. Naturally those A-List bloggers developed new experience over the years and they get better with their writing – and content marketing skills.

But for a simple newbie blogger, content creation is a challenge. In this article, I am going to address a few rare and straightforward methods to write better blog posts – and yes, you can directly apply these methods and excel with your writing skills, even if you are “a newbie”.

Identify What Your Readers Really Want

I have a question for you: To whom are you writing your blog posts?  Do not tell me: “For people” or ‘For My Site Visitors.’ When this would be your answer then you have to be more precise. What “kind” of people are your writing for?  Drill down at the most so that you can actually identify YOUR targeted audience.  A simple “field”, “interest” or a “niche” is still too wide. You need to narrow down much more to find a laser focused group – your actual target audience. Create a new personality for your targeted audience. Let that be a imaginary virtual person.

Whenever you are writing a new blog post, talk to that person; write for that person. Doing this, your content gets even more laser targeted because you keep in mind who your audience is.  And before you start creating new content for that person, find out what the interests are of that targeted group.  Otherwise, you will be wasting all your time and efforts for nothing.  This is the most common mistake that most newbies are making and this is also the most common reason why most newbies will stop blogging quite soon.

Don’t waste your time by putting sweat and blood in creating content that is not sought for by anyone. The majority of the bloggers create content just because they are either very passionate about it or they already read about it a lot.  But they do not care enough to check whether the content is of any good interest to the audience they are targeting.

Level Up Your Writing Skills

Writing is content just like exercising. Initially it normally is not very enjoyable; it actually quite hurts. And that is a totally normal reaction; so there is nothing to worry about. However, when you keep on doing it, writing new posts becomes less painful and eventually really enjoyable!

If you really want to get “there”, you need to be doing a lot more writing.  It is almost the same as working out your muscles at the gym. It hurts at first but later on you are starting to love doing more of it, right? Writing in this matter is very similar; it will get a lot better with the right amount of practice. The more you write the better you will get at it.  So you need to make yourself write a lot more to get “there”. Of course, you will not be able to use all of that writing. I know from experience that some of it will be crappy. The key is that you don’t give up. As you keep up the writing, you will be able to write a lot and also be able to use all of it in the end. I can guarantee you that!

To start with – and to keep your motivation up in the air – I suggest you sign up at 750words.com . This site will motivate you to write at least 750 words every day. They will send you a daily reminder email to do your writing.  All your work will be saved there and can easily be retrieved by clicking on the appropriate date of creation.  To help you kick start your motivation, you can even choose to put your own name in the wall of fame or wall of shame if you either make it or break it for a given day – how cool (or shameful) is that!

How to Get Better At Writing?

Here is a quick tip that will help you get better at writing blog posts

Write a lot! Yes. Keep writing and you will exercise your brain muscles to make the whole writing process easier and more excellent for you.

Also be consistent. The more you make something a habit the easier it will become for you.

Fine Tune Your Inner Voice

Sometimes this can be really simple. You just need to fine tune your inner voice and make yourself believe that you are a excellent writer; make yourself believe that you can write amazing articles and that you are not a newbie or failure in this writing business. You just need to boost up your self -confidence. That will, in its own turn, help you to fire up the potential needed to ignite your endless creativity.

Supply Your Brain With New Necessary Fodder

In order to produce something new, you always need something good as input. For certain things this, of course, is most obvious; say for instance that we eat food in order to gain the necessary energy to be very productive, and hence we produce things. It works the same way, if we want to create new content (output) our brain needs fodder (input). If the fodder we provide is of great quality, then for sure, it will help us produce new content that is of great quality.

As a newbie in the blogging scene (or even as an advanced one) it is highly crucial for any blogger to read regularly. Make sure that you subscribe to a handful of good quality blogs. Do not jump with excitement and subscribe to every blog you will come across. Remember the rule that the quality of your output always depends on the quality of your input.

Are you a person that loves to read paper books? Find out two or three topics you really like and shop for new books regularly.

Win The Reader’s Heart

Do not try to please your passion to write on a certain topic. Do not try to please search engines by focusing too much on optimizing your post for search engines. Rather then this, focus on making the people who enthusiastically read your content happy. It are the readers who make or break your business. Not any search engine and not a social media site. It are your readers who are doing business with you, who will trust you, who genuinely appreciate you for your work and who helps spread your word about your blog.

Set goals to win their hearts. Do this by making sure that your bloggers feel at home when they are browsing your blog. Give them what they want to know. Solve their problem. Be warm and open to them.

I’m not asking you to completely ignore search engine optimization altogether. Fact remains that you cannot put your content in front them if you don’t SEO your blog posts. Hence you should aim at connecting at both the ends – people and the search engines!

Take the necessary extra effort to help your readers even beyond your blog.  If they post a problem they have or when they need help in any social media site, like Facebook or Google+, jump in and help them there. Do not be promotional for your own goods though. Don’t try to hard sell. And most of all; Don’t be annoying. Your main goal must be that you are helpful to them.  I know this can be easier said than done. But if you resist to the urge to hard sell people and to be promotional, the benefits you reap will be for the long term!

So, What Is SEO without SEOing?

In this post I didn’t talked about anything technical for SEO. I have not talked about the titles, your headings, any meta tags, back-link strategies or anything else of that sort. But you can still do search engine optimize for a post without having that knowledge. All that you need to know is what people are actively searching for and how competitive that topic is. And after that, if you really practice your writing skills, you can naturally optimize the article for that particular topic – remember search engines absolutely love useful, unique, and well-written content that completely pleases their users!

Takeaway

Writing blog good posts is one of the most crucial aspects of running a successful blog. And this reoccurring process should not be a tedious one, making that you work for your blog. Ideally It should rather be the other way around. Follow the above tips to make this happen and let me know how you managed to write more awesome blog posts and how you optimized them for the search engines!.
