One of the greater things about being an affiliate and using ClickBank is having a enormous variety of products in different niches to promote. However, trying to work through the ClickBank Marketplace trying to find that one perfect product to promote on your website can be a little overwhelming. This often leads to a situation that people just pick the best-selling products in their chosen niche, rather than digging a little deeper to find products that will generate the most commissions.
In this article, I will share 4 easy ways you can use to start getting more from the Clickbank Marketplace with just a tiny bit of extra effort. Doing some proper research before promoting an affiliate product is often the slightest difference between success and failure, so try out these 4 techniques to get your promotions off on the right foot and the commissions coming your way!
1. Use The Advanced Filtered Search To Find Products That Fit Your Niche
The majority of affiliates just browse through theMarketplace categories or use the basic search functionality to find a product. But this will really limit your ability to find any “hidden gem” products that are a real perfect fit for your audience and that will meet your specific needs as an affiliate. By using Clickbanks’s Advanced Search function, you can get a lot more different specific in your search and weed out the product that are by definition a perfect fit. I want to give an example so here are some approaches you can use the Advanced Search function to improve your search results in the Clickbank Marketplace:
- Try excluding (some) keywords from the search that do not make sense for your niche or audience.
- Search only for keywords within a particular category.
- Look at high $/sale products (this is really important if you are doing paid affiliate advertising)
- Find vendors that offer a PitchPlus upsell or recurring commissions
- Look for products that are offered in different languages.
- Find new products to promote by setting the Activation Date to for example the last week.
- Look for vendors that have an Affiliate Tools page (more on that later).
- The Filters that Clickbank added on the left side of the Marketplace may perform some of these same functions, so be sure to use them all! By narrowing down the options you will find high potential products to promote that will give you the best return (I mean $$$ of course!) on your efforts.
2. Compare Marketplace Stats To Determine The Customer Lifetime Value
While it is of course nice to get a big commission up front when making a new sale, don’t forget about the longer term value of a customer as well. A lot of vendors do offer recurring commissions, and if they own a good customer retention rate, you can earn significantly more commissions over the life of a single customer than you would with only one sale.
The most simple way to find these kinds of products is to filter in the Clickbank Marketplace by Billing Type: Recurring, or to filter the results for products with a high “Average Rebill Total”. This indicates how much an affiliate earns per sale (on average) after the initial sale of that vendor’s product. It is however never a guaranteed amount, but it will be a good sign that you can continue to earn more after that first initial sale. The Avg $/sale statistic does include the initial and recurring amounts an affiliate can earn from that product (on average), so you can see that as getting a good estimation of the overall value of promoting the products of that vendor.
3. Preferably, Only Look For Vendors That Have a Vendor Spotlight Page Or Affiliates Tools Page
As an active affiliate, you have a lot of work to do creating your promotions or website before reaching your potential customers. Make your life a little easier and your time more valuable by using the vendor-created resources for your promotions, such as banners, pre-made keyword target lists, email “swipes”, free (PLR) reports to give away, and a lot more. It is less work for you and can make the pre-selling part to customers easier as well.
9 out of 10 vendors provide an Affiliate Tools page on Clickbank with these kinds of resources already created for you, or in some cases they will create custom tools if you require them. As I already mentioned above, you can use the Advanced Search or Filters to find just vendors with these pages. This can be one of the easiest ways to get your promotions or site up and running quickly and effectively!
4. Reaching Out Directly To Vendors
Something that I always do recommend to affiliates is that they should review and truly believe in any product that they promote. Otherwise you will stand to lose the trust from your visitors or you might even potentially get in legal hot water if you are making false claims about a product that you are promoting.
For this reason, it is a very good idea for you to reach out directly to the vendor to try to receive a review copy of the product you are about to promote. Or to simply buy the product directly if the vendor can’t provide you with review copies. Buying the product you want to promote can also be useful since it will let you test the vendor’s purchase process and customer support after the purchase. It might also make you feel more comfortable recommending the product to your audience. Referring visitors to a vendor who does not reply to emails or don’t provide a good buying experience is definitely the quickest way to lose trust from your visitors and you will keep them from buying through your affiliate links in the future.
Contacting vendors is also a good idea because they might be willing to offer extra benefits or perks such as extra sales bonuses, better customized affiliate links, a custom landing page, or any other benefits for you. You will never know if you don not try this! The worst that maybe will happen is they will not respond, in which case it also can be a signal that you better not want to promote their products anyway.
Give these four tips a try when you are going to searching for your next product to promote. I’m very confident they will make your life as an affiliate easier and a lot more successful.
